How to Lose 7 Pounds in 7 Days!
Your first year anniversary dinner is coming up and you're worried you won't fit into the sexy outfit you bought for the occasion. You only have a few days to trim up… is it possible to still lose a few pounds? With this diet program you can easily lose 7 pounds in 7 days.
BREAKFAST
Do not skip breakfast. Fill up with protein and carbohydrates in the morning so you won't get hungry. A slice of whole-grain bread and two egg whites will do the job for you.
Stay away from sugar. Instead of your usual grapefruit for breakfast, which is very rich in sugar, it's better to take a serving of whole grain bread or cereal. These are packed with complex carbs that will fill you up and prevent you from getting hungry quickly.
LUNCH
Fill up on veggies. Opt for green veggies and beans that have low calorie content. Do not mix the dressing in with the salad. Instead, just dip your fork into the dressing when taking a bite. This will significantly reduce your calorie intake.
Select your food smartly. If you think you are cutting down on calories by eating a turkey sandwich, you probably are if you use leftover turkey breast and skip the mayo. But if you put deli turkey onto your whole wheat bread, you are actually taking in 11 times more sodium, which will not help you shed pounds at all. Also when eating at a Japanese restaurant, remember that while sushi is generally healthy for you, not all kinds will help you lose 7 pounds. Choose sashimi, which are thin slices of raw meat, over sushi, which contains rice.
AFTERNOON SNACK
Have a healthy snack. Try putting a tablespoon of peanut butter on a couple of celery sticks. It tastes good and the peanut butter will give you your afternoon's dose of protein.
Forget about diet snacks. "A key element towards successful weight loss is staying away from processed foods," says Anthony Burrows, one of the top weight-loss consultants for celebrities. These so-called "fat-free" snacks will not fill you up as fresh foods can, and you will just tend to eat more. Opt for moderate servings of unprocessed foods such as nuts or fruit.
DINNER
Limit your portions. Make it a habit of measuring your portions so you don't go over the limit. A good dinner would be ? cup of brown rice, 3 ounces of protein, and a generous serving of steamed vegetables.
Skip the salt. A lot of the water you retain is due to your sodium intake. Try to minimize your salt consumption to about 1,000 mg a day. Burrows says that when buying your seasonings, make sure the label says sodium-free
Get your protein from fish. They have high protein content and are naturally lower in fat and calories than other meats. Opt for lean fish such as cod or halibut.
Eat more asparagus. This will help you lose 7 pounds faster by improving your urinary functions, says Burrows.
Things to Remember for the Week
Drink 12 glasses of water daily. Because you are trying to lose 7 pounds in a relatively small amount of time, you need to take in much more fluids than the regular 8 glasses a day. Burrows says that if you don't drink enough water, your body will keep the water on. It's similar to the concept that if you don't eat enough, your body will cling to the fats that you do have. It's important to kept the fluids flowing so start drinking up.
Add flavor to your drink. Drinking that much water can make you feel weary, so season it up by adding 1 tablespoon of cranberry juice to your glass. It also stimulates your urinary system and helps you flush out fluids faster. Just make sure you pick the sugar-free kind.
Minimize your dairy intake. Dairy contains a lot of nutritious elements, but they also have high fat and salt content. For this week, switch to fat-free alternatives or if possible, lessen your intake by a substantial margin.
Eat more while losing more!
There are certain foods that can help you lose more weight the more you eat them. We've prepared a list of some of these foods:
- Apple skin contains pectin, a compound that keeps you feeling full for a longer time. So next time you eat an apple, don't bother to peel it.
- Green tea has a compound called EGCG, which boosts your system's fat-burning capacity. A study conducted in the Obesity journal has actually shown that people who drink tea have become 20 percent trimmer than they were in their non-tea drinking days.
- Curry, a popular Indian spice, contains hydroxycitric acid, which is useful in inhibiting fat production in the body. The next time you find yourself in an Indian restaurant, select the curry dishes, but skip the samosas, which are abundant in fat.
- Cinnamon flushes out excess sugar by stimulating the body's fat cells, just like insulin. A teaspoon of cinnamon a day will keep the fats away.
- White kidney beans will increase your fiber intake and keep you feeling full for a long time.
